It is a great honor for me to be elected as the president Pakistan society of Anaesthesiologist, Karachi. My sincere gratitude to Patron PSA center Professor Tipu sultan, Patron PSA Karachi Professor Saeeda haider and all executive committee members of PSA Karachi for their kind support. I must thank the outgoing president Professor Safia Zafar for her excellent leadership role during the past year.
PSA is one of the oldest professional society in the country which is considered to be a role model. Every year we coordinate with various institutions for several CME activities and workshops. Annual anaesthesia conference is one of the constant feature which require year round planning by PSA executive committee. The focus of PSA is,to create awareness about safe anaesthesia practices in the country.
Anaesthesia today is growing exponentially in various subspecialties, making it very difficult for clinicians to keep up with the expanding literature. The PSA through various activities, provide a platform to the stakeholders to deliberate upon the relevant issues and come out with optimum solutions to various pertinent issues.
My heartiest congratulation and best wishes to all newly elected office bearers of PSA Karachi. We have a good fortune of inheriting very active and robust society and we must try our best to continue to maintain the same standards.
This year along with usual educational activities, we are planning to work on restarting membership drive, develop and recommend standards for safe anaesthesia practices locally and PSA Karachi website revamping. I also encourage everyone to contribute with new ideas or suggestion.
The specialty of Anaesthesia has grown and Pakistan Society of Anaesthesiologists has now become a “ROLE MODEL SOCIETY”.
