(Brig. M. Salim) He is also the country’s leading acupuncturist, and obtained his Diploma in .Acupuncture from China. He is pioneer in acupuncture in Pakistan.
Sponsored by WHO, he has attended various international symposia on acupuncture. In 1981, he was awarded a Ph.D and in 1983 a D.Sc. in recognition of his contributions to the work of “Acupuncture and relief of pain”.
He is a Fellow in Medicina Alternativa – FMA and a Fellow of International College of Surgeons and American College of Physicians, FICS and FACP and also a Fellow College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan (FCPS). Dr. Salim is a member of multiple national and international societies. He is a founder and patron of Society for Treatment and Study of Pain (STSP).
Dr. Salim’s impressive range of qualifications made him the first Professor of Anaesthesia in the Pakistan Army. His academic dedication and prolific writings has made him a well known name in the profession and introduced him to the outside world. He was awarded Sitra-e-Imtiaz (Military) in 1995.
He has done, and is doing commendable work in the field of anaesthesia, intensive care and pain management in Pakistan. A competent anaesthesiologist and a very good friend, he has the knack of winning over people and making life very pleasant for surgeons, colleagues and the patient in the grim world of operation theatre. With him being at the head of the table surgeons are endowed with extra courage to do the impossible. This gift takes him head and shoulder above the ordinary.
He has travelled widely and speaks a number of languages. Happily married to an equally gifted lady, he is blessed with four children Faisal, Adil, Sadia and Babur, all of them are following the footsteps of their father – to be the doctors.
