Pakistan Society of Anaesthesiologists Centre

General Secretary Dr. M. Amim Anwar

On 13th March 1971 twelve anaesthesiologists led by Dr. Habib-ul-Haq Siddiqui formally joined hands and decided to collectively strive for the betterment of their specialty, and thus Pakistan Society of Anaesthesiologists (PSA) was born. Although the professional working conditions and facilities for Anaesthesiologist in our country are still far from ideal, we would not be where we are today without the hard work and foresight of these few individuals.

Today’s Anaesthesiologist is not only an indispensable part of the surgical team who used to be confined to operation theatres but is also involved in a wide range of clinical disciplines. He is an intensivist in critical care medicine, an important member of trauma and pain management team.

To have a competent Anaesthesiologist we need to have a good training programme, continued medical education and continuous professional development in all aspects related to an Anaesthesiologist.

It is our moral duty and obligation to ensure maintenance of high standards of anaesthesia and care despite our drawbacks of limited resources. Thoughtful deliberation, interaction, meetings, CME Programmes, discussions and seminars give an excellent opportunity to meet, share our knowledge, expertise and of course above all strengthen the knots of friendship, love and affection and hopefully this website will contribute and play a key role in it.
