I saw the anaesthetist seeing the patient for the first time in OR and that was the last time also. This concept is almost obsolete now and good anaesthesia is inconceivable without a proper preoperative assessment and immediate post operative pain relief provided by an anaesthesiologist. Many operating rooms in the hospitals have good Anaesthesia equipments and monitors as well. With qualified anaesthetists. I know that rural and underdeveloped areas even near large cities still lack these facilities. But the way PSA is striving hard for uplifting, upgrading and trying to fill these lacunae, I’m hopeful that these areas would have the same standards of anaesthesia facilities too. As the current president of PSA Karachi Chapter it’ll be my goal to not only encourage the academic activities but also to work for providing the basic anaesthesia facilities to these areas as well.
21st century is the era of information technology. Use of its different platforms is mandatory to keep the members informed about the academic activities of PSA. We’re already using WhatsApp and have started online lectures on zoom on regular basis since last one year. Moreover we’ve launched our YouTube channel as well. It is heartening to see my colleagues launching the upgraded website of PSA.
In the end I congratulate my colleagues especially Dr Kashif Iqbal for their tireless efforts in launching this website.
