President Message Prof. Nur ul Haque

It is a great honour to be the President of the Pakistan Society of Anaesthesiologists (PSA). I am grateful to all the members of the society for putting their confidence in me, and bestowing upon me the honour of the office of the President.

We must always remember the founding fathers of the PSA, especially Dr. Habib-ul-Haq Siddiqui who laid the foundation of the society. I am sincerely grateful to present Patron Prof. S Tipu Sultan for his tireless efforts in bringing up the specialty and providing unremitting guidance to all of us.

PSA is a success story. It is a dynamic society that has come a long way in helping anaesthesiologists to get professional excellence and ensuring safe anaesthesia to the patients. I want to convey my utmost gratitude to all our seniors and past presidents of the society for making the journey to success all pleasant and memorable.

To my younger colleagues I say, you are the real torchbearers for the future, so set the goals, plan meticulously to achieve them, and then work hard. Remember, nothing in this world is impossible. Patient should ALWAYS be our “centre of gravity”. We live for them. They must get the best of care. I firmly and strongly believe that, “the Quality Anaesthesia Care is basic human right“. So, our motto should be to provide quality anaesthesia care to EVERY patient, every time, everywhere. Let us start to “think quality” and “work quality” in whatever set up we are working. There is always room for improvement, so every day you should think about what little progress you can make in the work you are doing today. It could be in clinical sphere, in research, in work ethics, in work environment, in patient communication and a number of other domains. It is you, the young members of PSA who are going to make a genuine difference. Let us be proud of saying to our patients, “we care when you are not aware“.
